The Impact of Pesticides on Raptors
Raptors sit at the top of food chains, which makes them vulnerable to accumulated toxins.
DDT and Eggshells
DDT caused thinning eggshells in bald eagles and peregrine falcons, leading to nest failures. Its ban allowed spectacular recoveries.
Rodenticides
Second-generation rodenticides poison owls and hawks that eat exposed rodents, often causing internal bleeding.
The Lesson
Regulation works: the bald eagle’s recovery shows that removing toxins can reverse decline. See Conservation Wins.
These are all experiences I've gained from keeping raptors, hope they help you~ Feel free to leave a comment if you have questions, I reply to all messages!
